The problem
Many girls in rural schools around Gayaza miss classes every month because they cannot afford sanitary pads, and periods are still surrounded by silence and stigma. As the club put it: a girl should never have to choose between her education and her period.
What we did
We launched HER PAD on 5 October 2025 at Eriot Recreation Centre — District Governor Ken Mugisha officiated the launch, and the Rotary Club of Gayaza sponsored it. On 24 October 2025 we took the project to a vocational junior school in Makukuba together with the Rotaract Club of Naggalama: we distributed pads, talked openly about menstrual hygiene and showed girls how to use and care for them.
Who we worked with

- Rotary Club of Gayaza (sponsor)
- St. Eliza Health Care Services
Impact
Girls in Makukuba received pads and practical menstrual-hygiene information. The project became a club flagship and returned in 2026 as the HER PAD fundraiser.
